Contract: Permanent 30 hours per week
Rate of pay: £11.47 per hour to £12.92 per hour. (£22,129 - £24,920 per pro-rata annum)
Location: Ostreme Centre, Mumbles

Mumbles Community Council wishes to appoint an Environmental and Sustainability Engagement Officer to promote environmental and ecological sustainability and to undertake activities to enhance the natural environment across the Community Council area of Mayals, Newton, Oystermouth and West Cross. The post holder will also play a key role in supporting and advising on zero carbon measures and campaigns to support the Council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.
The successful candidate will have a real passion for the natural environment and wildlife and will ideally be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject and have experience working in an ecological, conservation or environmental role, providing practical advice and support and developing campaigns to promote and engage with a range of stakeholders on environmental sustainability initiatives.

You will have excellent communication and people skills and will enjoy developing partnerships with a range of different local organisations such as schools, colleges, and voluntary groups to help engage the local community to actively become involved with sustainability initiatives to help care for the natural environment and to have a tangible impact on carbon reduction initiatives. You will be conscientious and organised with the ability to plan and organise your own workload and work unsupervised. You will enjoy working outdoors and be confident to take responsibility for the health and safety of volunteers and others under your supervision.

The postholder will be expected to work flexibly with the occasional need to attend evening meetings and activities organised over weekends.
