Work has started at Langland Court on implementing the new security gate access and online booking system.
It is hoped that this will make the courts safer and easier to book, which will also prevent users from having to wait for a course to become free.
The courts will cost £4.50 per hour for casual users, while households and students can access annual passes for £39 and £19, respectively, ensuring low one-off annual fees for 12 months play. The courts will operate on a non-profit basis, with money reinvested into maintenance and any surplus used to fund tennis activity.
Mumbles Community Council and Tennis Wales will also work with the LTA to deliver a range of activities across the site. This will include weekly organised free park tennis sessions for all ages, playing levels, and experience. Equipment is provided, meaning that people will not need someone to play with or bring their own racket. Local tennis leagues will also provide friendly, sociable, opportunities to get active through competition.
An extensive coaching programme will also be implemented, with advertising for a coaching operator going live soon.
The Multiuse Court will still be available free of charge on a first-come, first served basis.
Booking will go live on Thursday 23rd November 2024 and can be booked via the LTA website.
